Gorgeous evening light in the garden at 9.15 pm. The colors just glowed.
Phlox ‘Blue Paradise’ with Echinacea
‘Magnus’….. I think? This echinacea is huge at 36-42” tall with dark wine stems.
The Frederik Meijer Garden and Sculpture Park in Grand Rapids, MI. The buildings and conservatories were spectacular, and the gardens plus sculptures were absolutely delightful. We spent an entire day exploring - what a treat! Have you been there?

8.15 pm on the dot, and she is back. Can you see the color around her neck? It almost looks like a silver band to me. I can’t figure it out. What do you think?

Hummingbird Container!
I collected these plants just for the hummingbirds - it’s early days here in the Mid Atlantic, but last evening, at 7 pm (!), the first hummingbird arrived and spent almost 10 minutes checking out the flowers! She was a beauty, and it was so gratifying 😊

Hard to capture the luminescence of this yellow tree peony I call DD, after my Mum. I planted it in her garden in 1989. When she passed, we sold her house and brought her tree peony here in 2019. DD did sulk for a few years but with 15 super fragrant blooms this spring, she is starting to feel at home. She hardly lasts a week, but it is just one of those magnificent ephemeral spring moments!

Hot color and zingy containers, coming through this brutal heat wave. It was a gorgeous spring but we are paying for it now! When I started working here in 1986, August was the smoker, and July still had very reasonable temps. Then the heat started coming in July. And now this year, I have never known June to be so hot!!! But it looks like August is going to be much cooler …. interesting! What do you think?

Waterlilies in our ponds, for the first time in quite a few years - glowing coral Wanvisa and iridescent dark purple Star of Siam, with the most fantastic variegated pads ! Absolutely love them. Many thanks to @kellybilling for selecting these winners !
